Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and driven Electrical Engineer who will play a key role in supporting electrical project design execution. This position will require a strong understanding of electrical engineering practices within an industrial environment as it relates to systems within the Food and Beverage Industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review detailed calculations, drawings, technical specifications, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, cost estimates, detailed analyses and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.
  • Design, develop, validate, and oversee the installation of electrical equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with our in-house design staff including architectural, mechanical, and civil to prepare electrical designs on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and clients to determine optimal designs
  • Coordinate with utility provider regarding existing and upgraded primary power systems
  • Develop electrical power and distribution design concepts with architects, engineers, and owners.
  • Design of lighting and modelling, fire alarm, communications systems, and coordinate process equipment control.
  • Project management on electrical infrastructure projects and power distribution up to 44kV.
  • Complete the analysis, decisions, and recommendations required in connection with technical problems encountered.
  • Prepare specifications, contract documents, and engineering progress reports.
  • Ensure design conforms to all applicable codes and client standards.
  • Provide technical supervision of junior engineers and technologists including mark-ups and review of design and drafting.
  • Prepare detailed design of high and low voltage system requirements in primary and secondary power distribution.
  • Conduct applied research to ensure we are providing the client with the most optimal solution.
  • Travel to construction sites to conduct Electrical inspections and prepare reports.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing with the Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • Working knowledge and experience with industrial HVAC controls.
  • Working knowledge and thorough understanding of the Ontario Electrical Safey Code.
  • Demonstrated skillset in trade-off analysis.
  • Must have own transportation and a willingness to travel to client sites.

Education and Experience

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Three to five (3-5) years related work experience in the food or pharmaceutical industries preferred.
  • Previous electrical systems design experience in a consulting environment would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with intricate distribution systems and cogeneration integration.
  • Experience with Ontario Ministry of Labour Pre-Start Health and Safety Review is an asset.

  • Thorough understanding and ability in the detailed design of electrical systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in performing key responsibilities with minimal direction and oversight.
  • Willingness to learn and train those in need.
  • Ability to work in a high‐performance environment, deal with clients in a professional manner, and willingness to travel primarily within Ontario if required for projects.
