Mechanical Technologist
Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Technologist to join our dynamic team. If you are passionate about mechanical systems design, thrive in collaborative environments, and have a keen eye for detail, we’d love to hear from you!
The Mechanical Technologist will play a pivotal role in the development and production of construction drawings using REVIT and AutoCAD. This position demands a strong understanding of the construction industry, building systems, and compliance with national, provincial, and local building codes and by-laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Create engineering drawings for process and industrial mechanical systems (plumbing, piping, HVAC, refrigeration) using CAD and BIM tools.
- Prepare and review contract administration documentation.
- Develop and advance CAD and REVIT standards for the company.
- Collaborate with clients, engineers, project managers, and trades to fulfill client deliverables and ensure satisfaction.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing mechanical systems.
- Select mechanical equipment and plumbing fixtures for project designs, including piping and HVAC sizing.
- Provide detailed written reports and logs.
Education and Experience
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized College or University.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a drafting setting focused on mechanical engineering.
- Experience drafting and using design tools for industrial projects is a strong asset.
- Certified or pursuing certification with a provincial professional association (e.g., OACETT).
- Hydronics experience preferred.
- Experience in Agri-food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industries is an asset.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and REVIT software (portfolio of REVIT projects required).
- Strong understanding of Ontario building codes and relevant specifications.
- Expertise in producing mechanical drawings and documents.
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel.
