Intermediate Civil Engineer
Description
The Intermediate Civil Engineer is part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for management and delivery of a variety of construction projects. As an experienced designer, specifically in land development and storm water management design, they must also work and coordinate with multiple disciplines to create accurate and technical drawing sets in support of site plan approvals, including site plans, servicing, grading, and stormwater management. Building code reviews and analysis may be a required task in this position.
Responsibilities
- Prepare design and technical aspects of civil engineering projects in support of site plan approval, including site plan, site servicing, site grading, details and notes.
- Perform hydraulic/hydrologic calculations and modelling.
- Stormwater management design, including use of LIDs and erosion and sediment control.
- Prepare supporting documentation/reports, including functional servicing report, stormwater management report, etc.
- Liaise with clients, municipalities, and regulatory authorities and ensure client standards and procedures are followed.
- Work closely with engineers and technologists to ensure deliverables are prepared in timely manner and in accordance with company quality controls and standards.
- Conduct periodic construction inspections, surveying, and contract administration.
- Prepare project proposal and contribute to client relationships and new business development.
- Improve operations, reduce turnaround times, and optimize processes to provide seamless quality of engineering services.
- Verify and validate engineering designs by testing protocols and analyzing statistical data.
- Project manage from initial client start up meeting through to completion of assigned civil engineering projects.
- Assist with the development of project plans, project costing, and coordinating the efforts of other engineers, technologists, and designers to support cross-functional collaboration.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Prepare and conduct presentations.
- Demonstrate and promote a commitment to quality control, and the maintenance of a high standard of work within the civil department and beyond.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.
- Assist with developing business with new clients and strengthening Mallot Creek’s relationships with existing clients.
- Support business development activities by providing input to proposals, schedules, and cost estimates.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- University degree in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
- Strong understanding of stormwater management design, filtration, modelling, and reporting.
- Extensive working knowledge of MIDAS or OTTHYMO modelling software.
- Knowledge of building codes, fire codes, and other regulations and guidelines.
- Ability to confidently present recommendations to customers and secure their buy-in.
Work Experience
- Between three (3) to eight (8) years experience in an engineering consulting firm.
- Experience in the food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industry considered an asset.
- Skilled in the design of various municipal infrastructure including land development, site plan, function service, water supply systems, sewage systems, roadways, storm water management works, familiarity with site servicing works for land development and trenchless design.

- Willingness to learn and train those in need.
- Ability to work in a high‐performance environment, deal with customers in a professional manner, and willingness to travel primarily within Ontario if required for projects.

Compensation range: $95,000 - $115,000 per year
Your compensation within this range will depend on your skills, experience, and qualifications. Along with base pay, our total rewards package includes comprehensive benefits and programs designed to support your well-being and professional development. The salary range for this position is based on market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure fairness and consistency.
